So my daughter has now done a couple of triathlons and is getting into the running scene. She came to me when she was training for her 2nd triathlon and said, "Dad, what kind a shoes should I get?" Well that is a loaded question, since she is still living in my house and that means I will be paying for these shoes I had to be careful what I said. I don't want to spend too much, but I know the cost of training in bad shoes. So I told her MY TOP THREE brands were: Brooks, Mizuno and Saucony. You going to pay around $100 if you can find some on sale. So I did not think she could go wrong with those three brand and that price range. I also sent her to my favorite running store and told her to ask for an evaluation of her stride and foot strike pattern. At the end of the day she got a great pair of Mizuno's for just under $100. There are a ton of new brands out there now! Lots of new technology! Oh, and as my daughter says, "Lots of REALLY COOL Colors!".
According to Shoe Finale in there post "The Best Running Shoes in 2017" (Top 10 Men and Top 10 Women) Asics was the top of the list with 5 (1 Men, 4 Women), Saucony was second with 4 (3 Men, 1 Women), third was Brooks (2 Men, 1 Women), fourth was a tie between Nike (1 Men, 1 Women) who has been around a long time, but never one of my favorites and a new one to me Salamon (2 Women). Rounding out the list were two new names in the running shoe market to me, Adidas (1 Men) & Puma (1 Women). There were also two of the usuals with one entry each; New Balance (1 Men) and with a disappointing showing Mizuno (1 Men).
Sounds like I have some research ahead of me. I need to better understand the Female Running shoe market if my daughter is seriou about the sport.
I would love to hear your opinion. What is YOUR TOP 3 Running Shoe Brands?
This weary Dad awaits your thoughts...
